Let us not forget that there is life beyond ourselves. There is a world in need of our help. There are causes to be advocated for, mouths to be fed, homes to be built, children to be educated. There are wounds that need healing, hands that deserve holding & hearts that yearn to be loved.

“The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.” --Mitch Albom

  1. This is exactly why I want to go to culinary school. I want to change people and part of the world with my food. What better way to reach people than through their tummies?

  2. I try to help people see that life is worth living, that their worries are not as big as they imagine and that life is something to be in awe of every day, to cherish and to love. I think its great to look at the REAL problems i the world, it helps us appreciate what we have and gives great perspective on our own lives. f xxx

  4. You know, I met a friend recently who told me, "I live to serve. Serving people is the only meaning there is in life."

I'm trying to convince her to make me her best friend. ;-)

    Good thoughts, Beck!
It's actually quite settling to realize there is life beyond myself.
I just don't worry about my appearance as much, and it's more of a matter of what I can do for everyone else. Agree?

  16. Beautiful post. I am currently looking into starting a job in the elderly care. I think the elderly are really forgotten in our society yet we can learn so much from the knowledge they have gathered in their live and should be respected for that
